Powerful Campaign Brings New Meaning to a Spice Girls Song
As I was scrolling through my Facebook feed the other day, I "liked" a Global Goals video of a girl power force covering the 20 year-old song "Wannabe" by iconic girl group, Spice Girls. This even caught the attention of Victoria Beckham herself, and for good reason.
If you haven't seen the powerful remake of "Wannabe," watch it below:
According to Harper's Bazaar, The Global Goals used the Spice Girls' hit song to launch the campaign #WhatIReallyReallyWant, encouraging girls and women across the globe to tell their world leaders what they want in order to improve their lives and achieve equality. To accomplish this, the campaign remade the '90s music video "Wannabe," this time starring British girl group M.O., Taylor Hatala from Canada, Larsen Thompson from the US, Gigi Lamayne and Monoea from South Africa, Seyi Shay from Nigeria and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez from Sri Lanka.

The video remake came just in time for the 20 year anniversary of "Wannabe" which debuted on July 8th, 1996. Beckham, formally known as Posh Spice, tweeted the video that morning writing, "20 years on - Girl Power being used to empower a new generation. So proud."
