Haitian American Productions Getting Pulled Over [Captions by Martine On The Scene]
Many cultures have their own comedic style within their community, and the Haitian culture is no exception. Haitian American Productions does a fine job at exposing the world to the Haitian-American culture via the really funny videos they post on Facebook and YouTube.
Whenever I catch non-Haitians watching HAP videos, they laugh at the parts they understand. The parts they don't, they still laugh because the body language and tones of voices of comedians James Prophete, Jonas Azor, Plus Pierre and Success S Jr. are pure comedic relief, but the experience isn't not as satisfying, as it would be for a Haitian. Some folks just don't understand what hell these comedians are saying whenever they bust out the Haitian-Creole, the native language of Haiti.
I started noticing a trend with my friends repeatedly asking me to translate HAP videos for them. Naturally I'd translate, but then I took it step further by reaching out to HAP suggesting my services of captioning their videos. Thankfully, they agreed with my idea and now I bring you my captioning debut in Haitians Getting Pulled Over.
As a proud Haitian-American, I was all over the opportunity to caption this video for the increasingly popular group of comedians.
